Hiking on the Ortler offers a unique experience and views, but also gives hikers a chance to challenge the limits of their endurance. Whoever likes extensive hiking tours is, in the truest sense of the word, in a hiking paradise here with a fantastic mountain backdrop.
Tracks to other huts:
- Payer Hut (approximately 1,5 hours)
- Bergl Hut via Payer Hut (approximately 3 to 3,5 hours)
- Chairlift top station, restaurant “Langenstein/K2” (approximately 1,5 hours)
- Hintergrat Hut via Langenstein (approximately 3 hours)
- Pass to Trafoi: Follow path no. 4 from the Tabaretta mountain cabin to the Bärenscharte at 2871 metres above sea level and continue in the direction of the Payer mountain cabin as far as the Tabaretta-Scharte at 2903 metres above sea level. The signpost for Trafoi is directly there under a prominent rock stack. From here take path no. 185 that winds downhill to the next junction. There you can either go in a south-westerly direction across a rubble-strewn corrie, in which however there is usually snow, to the Bergl mountain cabin via path no. 18-186. Or you can carry on hiking on path no. 185 first to the Edelweiß mountain cabin (derelict) and then on through woodland to Trafoi.
